Avalanche (AVAX), formerly known as Ava/AVA, is a first-layer heterogeneous blockchain network designed to serve as a platform for decentralized applications (dApps) and custom blockchain networks. The Avalanche network is powered by three integrated blockchains: the Platform Chain (P-Chain) for managing validators and subnets, the Contract Chain (C-Chain) for executing Ethereum-compatible smart contracts, and the Exchange Chain (X-Chain) for decentralized asset creation and transfer.
