Babylon is a decentralized protocol that enables native Bitcoin staking directly on the Bitcoin blockchain without intermediaries. It introduces a shared-security architecture that extends Bitcoin’s security to other decentralized networks, allowing BTC holders to stake across multiple systems while keeping their assets on Bitcoin.

The protocol enhances Proof-of-Stake (PoS) security by enabling trustless Bitcoin staking through cryptographic innovations and efficient unbonding. Staked BTC can secure various Bitcoin Secured Networks (BSNs), such as L1/L2 chains, DeFi protocols, or infrastructure like bridges and compute networks.

Babylon Genesis is the first BSN and acts as the control center for coordinating BTC security and liquidity. Built with the Cosmos SDK and supporting IBC and CosmWasm, it allows developers to deploy smart contracts and connect seamlessly with the Cosmos ecosystem.
